Each family must send a representative, such as a parent, to act as an aide in the classroom, approximately once a month. This representative will provide the snack for all of the students in that class and will work with the students at the direction of the staff. Each year, three general meetings, featuring guest speakers, provide a forum for parents to discuss the activities of the school. Several optional fund raising events enable the school to keep tuition low.
Our Day
Free play
Centers include: Block, Housekeeping, Library, Science, Music, Writing, Puzzles & Manipulatives, Math & Art. During this time, students work individually with staff discussing the topic of the day and practicing fine motor skills.
Clean up Each student has a specific job but cooperation is also stressed.
Circle time
Each student may participate in show and tell. The student of the day gives the weather report and completes the calendar. In January, students recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. A story is read, followed by discussion of the theme for the day. Music may include singing, playing instruments, dancing and finger plays.
Bathroom time
Students use the bathroom, washing hands and using the facilities. The helping parent sets up snack with the help of his/her child. Staff may request a special snack to reinforce the theme, which may involve the students in preparation.
Prayer and snack.
Students are encouraged to display good manners and enjoy conversation. Snacks must be healthy. Staff and Parents are aware of all allergies. Students must clean up their area and go to the Library area to look at books, do puzzles or play a board game when they have had enough snack.
Gross Motor Skills
Weather permitting, students go outside for a variety of activities. When inside, gym equipment, and a variety of games enable preschoolers to develop physically and socially.
